A Napoli, città in cui è nato, studia pianoforte con Vincenzo Vitale, diplomandosi con lode nel Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. Prosegue gli studi al Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano, sotto la guida di Bruno Bettinelli e Antonino Votto, dove consegue il diploma in Composizione e Direzione d’orchestra. Before the start of tonight's CSO performance of the Bach concert, Riccardo Muti said a few words to dedicate the concert to the victims of the tragedy in Boston yesterday.
"Ladies and Gentleman, good evening. I think that the entire world is shocked about what happened in Boston. Tonight, by coincidence, we perform, for the fourth time, the big work of Bach [Mass in B Minor]. It's one of the greatest monuments of music and of the culture of mankind.
